Thank you to Matt Conti and Katie Babb at NorthEndWaterfront.com for reposting our post on the question about wharf names! And thank you everyone for all of your comments and references. It does seem as though, with the exception of “Constitution Wharf”, the wharves and piers which the Coast Guard now occupies, started not to be named on maps in the 1940’s.
“Constitution Wharf” seems to have ‘lost’ its name when the USS Constitution moved to Charlestown. As you can see in the picture below, the USS Constitution is now moored in Constitution Wharf, Charlestown! So we’re looking into whether it makes sense to call the piers “Pier 1”, “Pier 2” and “Pier 3” as they are named in 1947 or 1968 maps (accuracy for 2019 is our goal here!).
Thank you all again for your help!
