Come see our new site-specific, video-sculpture installation "You Are Here" for the WATERLINES exhibit | December 15, 2022 - March 22, 2023 | Somerville Museum, MA
New England Castings in Standish, ME, pushed their own boundaries working with our renderings and casting our milled foam sections into Duplex Stainless Steel a material that seems just right for the streets of Worcester and the people whose stories our sculpture tells. Thank you Walter, Mike and the whole crew at NEC!
Our sculpture takes its cue from the work of the 19th-century Worcester abolitionist and suffragist Abby Kelley Foster and is permanently installed at 311 Main St. to the left of Mechanics Hall. We're grateful to State Sen. Harriette L. Chandler, D-Worcester, who helped secure funding for “The Speaker’s Stand” and to our partners at the City of Worcester, especially the Cultural Development Office, D.P.W., the Public Art Working Group and Abby's House. Excited to have our work “The Speaker’s Stand,” be a part of the Main Street Reimagined Public Art Program which tells the story of Worcester, MA’s rich history through a series of public artworks along Main Street. Here are the first five of many new works. (Photos © 2021 Troy B. Thompson Photography, all rights reserved)
